Presenting a lovely antique 14k rose gold and platinum diamond Art Nouveau navette swirl ring.
Great finger coverage! And a hard-to-find larger size! A little sparkle bomb!
She has a sensual, swirl design; and those 33 old diamonds sparkle like mad, even in the worst lighting. The shank and the back of the ring face are 14k slightly rosy gold and the top is platinum (tested). Nestled in the center of the platinum setting are 3 bezel-set old European cut diamonds, with 30 additional rose-cut diamonds covering the swirls and shoulders. They really catch the light and shimmer so sweetly. I really love the 2 little fan-shaped bezels each holding a rose-cut diamond, one in each corner between the shoulder and the extending swirl--such a special little detail.
I am convinced this is a piece from the Art Nouveau era, but it could easily be an older 1800s piece. I am not an expert in these things.
The hallmark is worn from age and illegible--it just looks like spots inside the band, but it likely had a gold and platinum stamp at one time. But it is tested and confirmed 14k and platinum. The ring has a lovely, warm, antique gold patina that is rosy in some light. All diamonds were tested with a Presidium Gem Tester. The largest center diamond measures about 2.55mm in diameter, with the 2 flanking stones approximately 2mm each.
These old hand-cut diamonds were meant to sparkle in candlelight, but these stones have tremendous fire in any light! The band is perfectly shaped and not out-of-round. A few shallow nicks and surface wear to the band from age. Still a fantastic piece with a sparkling diamond cluster that is very eye-catching. See condition notes below.

Condition: Please keep in mind that this piece is well over 100 years old. That being said, it's in good condition, considering its age. All diamonds are present and are held securely. Please know that the tips of the swirled sections are a little bit pokey/sharp so I would recommend caution wearing with delicate fabrics. There is a tiny crease on the inside of the shank where the ring shoulder attached to the shank when it was made--this is visible only under magnification but you can feel it slightly with your fingernail. The smaller rose-cut diamonds are rougher cut and some have slightly matte finished facets, some are more jagged, and some have small inclusions. Under magnification, they appear to have a flea-bite nick or chip, but as they were cut by hand in the old ways, they may have always been that way. None of this is really noticeable with normal wear--the ring presents beautifully--but I'd rather be picky with these details. I've done my best to capture these details in the photos so please zoom in!
